On 31 August 2018, Vodafone India merged with Idea Cellular, to form a new entity named Vodafone Idea Limited. On 7 September 2020, Vodafone Idea unveiled its new brand identity, ‘Vi’ which involves the integration of the company’s erstwhile separate brands ‘Vodafone’ and ‘Idea’ into one unified brand.
The company’s final step to integrate two entities as one re-branded as Vi to attract new customers. Vodafone Idea is one of the Biggest Telecommunication companies in India. Rival like Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Tata Communications.

Last week, the company received approval from shareholders to sell a stake worth $3.4 billion by selling shares and raising debt. The company received a much-needed relief in India earlier this month after the nation’s apex court granted Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel, another giant telecom operator in India, with 10 years to pay billions they owe to the government. Now Vodafone’s idea has a new identity to bringing customers to both brands as single entities.

Vodafone Idea’s share price rose as much as 4%, compared with a 0.06% drop in the Nifty 50, after the rebranding was announced on Monday. “The brand integration not only marks the completion of the largest telecom merger in the world but also sets us on our future journey to offer world-class digital experiences to one billion Indians on our strong 4G network,” Ravinder Takkar, managing director.
